A COVID19 Easter

Happy Easter to everyone here in our sweet rural home: Lenawee County. To those practicing Christians of all stripes: He is Risen! He has risen indeed!

To those of Jewish faith, our deepest apologies for missing the start of Passover, which, for those that don't know, started the evening of April 8th and will end the evening of April 16th.

To all in Lenawee County we say: Peace! Stay home! Stay safe!

We know these times are trying and things are difficult for many. Unfortunately Governor Whitmer's recent order has been politicized by conservative Republican lawmakers and the conservative media. Partisan attacks during a pandemic? The sickening display that President Trump put on recently in attacking "that woman from Michigan"? His complete incompetence in this crisis can't be deflected with despicable attack's on governors across the country.

We need conservative Republican lawmakers to work on getting doctors, nurses, direct care staff, first responders, and all those essential workers working with the public the PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) and extra support (financial and otherwise) they need and deserve, respectively.

We need conservative Republican lawmakers to work on fixing the horrible COVID19 test situation. We need widespread testing. We need tests for active infection and tests to see who has already had it, etc. That is how we get the economy going again. Nothing else will do.

We need conservative Republican lawmakers to work on helping everyday working class people AND work on helping small businesses. Stop deliberately using people as political pawns to attack Governor Whitmer's stay at home order.

Congressman Tim Walberg, State Representative Bronna Khale, and State Senator Dale Zorn need to work on finding solutions rather than playing politics with the public health of Michiganders.

Lenawee Dems in the community

Your local Democratic party giving back to help the community and the environment!

This summer and fall, The Lenawee Dems have sponsored a 2.7 mile stretch of US223 for the MDOT adopt a highway program. We had a blast cleaning up. We'll be back in the spring and all who care about the environment and fellowship with the Dems are invited. Keep a look out on our Facebook page, this page and our newsletter to get involved with us!

This Fall and Winter, we will be at Share The Warmth of Lenawee, serving meals on the first Thursday of the month. It is a honor and a privilege to help out our community. The Len Dems will take any help to either provide food and/or serve the meals. Please contact us if interested.

Come walk the Adrian 4th of July Parade

In celebration of the Independence Day holiday the LenDems are participating in the Star Spangled Pride - Fourth of July Parade hosted by Civitan of Lenawee. We can't tell you how much we need to make an impact on this parade. We need to let Lenawee County know that we are here in the community and to show support for Democratic candidates participating with us.

There are many fun ways to be involved. We’d like to have a few cars decorated in red, white, and blue flags, bunting, streamers and the like. This is a great chance to show your support for our Democratic candidates with signs or by soaping your windows. Dress up your motorcycle with Old Glory, some handlebar streamers, and use those pipes to draw some attention. Perhaps decorate a sign to carry or lend a helping hand to those handing out literature.
We will need two volunteers to walk holding the LenDems banner at the head of the Democratic Party procession. We’ll also need volunteers to hand out water. In past years we’ve given out candy. This year we’re going to be handing out bottled water (not Nestle) to the folks watching the parade.
Line up on St Joseph St in Adrian begins at 9 AM. The parade starts at 10 AM. The parade will proceed down Greenly to Maumee and down Maumee to Monument Park (close to the post office). If you would like to help with preparations for the parade over the coming week (helping get water, adding stickers to bottles, decorating truck displayed side panels, decorating vehicles, making signs, etc.), please contact Juanita Kelly via email (click here).
We hope to see you there, Forward! Together!
